Resveratrol prevents cancer

Resveratrol is a chemical compound that is produced naturally by plants when they are under attack from viruses. It is mainly found in red wine, grapes, and berries including cranberries, blueberries, peanuts and some pine trees including Japanese knotweed.

The lab experiments have shown that the skin of red grapes can prevent the growth of prostrate cancer. It was found that grape skin extract inhibit the growth of not normal but prostrate cell at different stages of cancer progression. Resveratrol prevents cancer in human body by blocking the cell cycle or a sequence of steps that it passes through when it is divided into two identical cells. This is what leads to the prevention of development of cancer. Resveratrol inhibits the cancer in its early stages. The muscadine grape which is different from Red grapes is very good source of Resveratrol.
